God's Power to Restore Israel and Judgment on Its Enemies

10
Chapter 10
1 Ask the LORD for rain at the time of the latter rain; the LORD makes thunderclouds and gives them rain of downpour, herb for a man in the field. 2 For the teraphim have spoken iniquity, and the diviners have seen falsehood. And they speak dreams of vanity; they comfort them with vanity. On account of this, they have gone away like sheep; they are oppressed because there is no shepherd. 3 "My anger burned against the evil ones, and against the stall-fed ones I will visit. For the LORD of Hosts has visited his flock, the house of Judah, and has set them as his horse of splendor in the war." 4 From him the corner, from him the peg, from him the bow of war, from him every oppressor will go out together. 5 And they will be like mighty men trampling in the mud of the streets in battle, and they will fight because the LORD is with them, and they will put to shame the riders of horses. 6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah and the house of Joseph; I will save them and set them up, for I have had compassion on them, and they will be as when I did not reject them—for I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them. 7 They will be like mighty men of Ephraim, and their heart will rejoice like wine. Their sons will see and rejoice; their heart will exult in the LORD. 8 I will whistle for them and gather them, for I have redeemed them, and they will increase as they increased. 9 And I will sow them among the peoples, and in distant places they will remember me, and they will bring their sons to life, and they will return. 10 I will bring them back from the land of Egypt, and from Assyria I will gather them. I will bring them to the land of Gilead and to Lebanon, and it will not be found for them. 11 And he passed through a sea of distress, and he struck the sea with waves, and they shamed all the depths of the Nile, and he brought low the hubris of Assyria, and the staff of Egypt departed. 12 And I will make them strong in the LORD, and in his name they will walk, says the LORD.

Chapter 11
1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, and fire will devour your cedars. 2 Wail, cypress, for the cedar has fallen, which the glorious ones have plundered. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the forest of the vintage has come down. 3 A voice of wailing from the shepherds, for their robe of glory has been plundered; a voice of roaring from the lions, for the pride of the Jordan has been plundered.
